Hiking Trip - Bukit Engku Busu, Perak

September 21, 2018

Wahaha. Macam tak percaya je saya berpeluang pergi hiking masa housemanship ni.

So, this time, my friends and I went to Bukit Engku Busu, Lumut. There are at least 2 hills to hike if you come here - the other one is Bukit 300 (located close to Teluk Batik). Going to hike that hill soon, insyAllah.

As usual, need to read a bit about the hill. I honestly read this blog post a long ago, since I was still in Obs&Gyne. Just, I didn't have the opportunity that time. :) And my memory about the things I've read already faded away T_T

Our team - Hamizah, Hanis, Haziq, Sham

Just a little introduction about this hill. It is approximately 331 meters high (1087 feet) and named after a king(?) or prince(?) notsurethough, Raja Engku Busu who was been invited to help eliminating pirates in the area. The pirates were disturbing most of the Dutch, British ships etc. However, he was killed and lost the mission.

Manjung that we know today is actually being called as Dindings. The new name has been used since 1st January 1982.

Welcome to Trek Merentas Hutan Bukit Engku Busu :D

If you read the blog post I mentioned earlier, you can imagine how challenging the route is. Most of it is covered with roots that we need to climb to get higher up. At some slippery areas, there are ropes provided to help us. If I am not mistaken, there are 8 check points to reach the peak.

Nampak je mendatar... tapi....

Feels nice to see this thing in the middle of hiking. Energized.

With Hamizah.

Seeeeee. Roots everywhere.

Seeing roots like that reminds me of 4 seasons I experienced before. Can you imagine how trees can survive different seasons with different challenges? Because Allah has created them with all the needful preparation. For example, don't you think the roots play a huge role?

"When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind."

Exactly though.

If someone has deep roots of religion, send them anywhere insyAllah they won't change.
If someone has deep roots of love, go and meet a lot of people - insyAllah they won't stray away.
If someone has deep roots of knowledge, insyAllah they won't be bothered with evolution of ideas and even look forward for more.

Rasa macam dah lama tak tadabbur alam. I think I need to start on this again.

Tadaaaa.

The peak of this hill is actually covered with plants and trees, so don't expect beautiful views from the peak. But, just before the peak, there is a route on the right that we can enjoy the view of the sea and TLDM. People said that we can see Pulau Pangkor as well but I am not that sure which one it is.

Overall, we took about 3 hours plus (I think so) to hike and get back to the base. It was challenging for me but with non-stop motivation of "sikit je lagi", "tu haaa, dah nak sampai dah".... I feel like, yes I can do this. Haha.

Well, biasa la tu. Ayat "5 minit je lagi" dah biasa dalam kamus hiking ni. :D

Breath-taking enough.

To get here;

Thanks guys for the day, till the next hiking trip!
Bukit 300 pulak okay?

Short, Intense Hike to Bukit Lagi, Perlis

October 26, 2017

I feel blessed that Puteri, Kak Zira and I have the same interest. Hiking.

Even though I am used to hike in Czech, as expected hiking in Malaysia is roughly different. I am totally a newbie here, I don't mind that as at least people don't put high expectation. :)

In love with this hiking pose :p

Early morning of Sunday, we went to Titi Chai to grab breakfast and Puteri recommended us to try Pulut Ayam. I have never heard of this food before, something different that I know is Pulut Mangga nyum nyum nyum :D

Pulut Ayam was for post-hike though hahaha.
It is basically pulut with fried chicken.

We had nasi lemak and few kuih-muih for breakfast. A bit heavy for us but never mindddd, we are Malaysians!

Beautiful paddy field :D

Since I did not drive, I have no idea about the direction. Haha.

But, from Google Maps, in order to get to Bukit Lagi, please don't put 'Bukit Lagi' in the search box. It will lead you to a city area with buildings around.

Landmarks:

  • Taman Awam Bukit Lagi
  • Taman Bunga Kertas Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen

There are lots of flowers around. I think it will be beautiful to spend time with family here in the evening. Since it is located close to Taman Awam, people can spend the evening with riadah and exercises :)

Greeennnnn.

Not really sure how many entrance to the hiking route. But you can hike and go down with different routes.

As how I described the title of this post, YESSSS IT IS A SHORT ROUTE BUT INTENSE!

Haha, curam sangat mak ai.

Stamina demanding.
Ya Allah, the stairs are very steep and quite small hahahaha nangis weh kaki.

But, as usual, with a rough journey there will be some rewards at the end. Same like our life in this world, sweet moments with painful challenges but if we really live life accordingly, Allah will reward us with Jannah, right?

Same concept.

Hutan belantara.

Calming shade.

Kak Zira and Puteri. They are so fit!

Lovely!

At the peak.

Small, steep stairs.

Sap sap soi for them haha.

Us.

Us at the peak :D

Yeay! If I am not mistaken, less than one hour needed for the whole hike :D

More details, maybe you can use this LINK as reference. :)

Hiking Trip - Bukit Kledang, Perak

September 25, 2017

A day before this trip, I told Ayah I feel like hiking lately. I miss Czech a bit too much and hiking is one of the passions I found within myself when I was in that beautiful country. Even though Czech does not have heavy forests like in Malaysia, it was still lovely to enjoy the nature it can offer.

Of course, Malaysia has its own specialties.
And hiking Malaysia hills and mountains are no joke.

Self love haha :)

When Strangers Are Like Family

April 6, 2017

“There're times when strangers are like family, and family are like strangers” - Hlovate.

Well, I agree with the quote somehow, but alhamdulillah my family is not like strangers. At least between me and ayah mak abangngah. :)

Growing older, I realized I became clingy, not only to them but to people whom I started to have emotional attachments. But, I need to remind myself, they have their own life (I mean personal life that I should not interrupt), they still need to work anyway.

To be honest, somehow I like the ideas of Instastories as we can watch or see our friends' updates and I love all the mature changes of most people I know. :) People are moving on with many new responsibilities. This medium even connected me with my childhood friend that I have not been in touch for ages. Girl, insyAllah I will have your back if you need me. <3

Hiking in Pravcicka Brana, Czech.

A weekend in March, I had the chance to spend at least two whole days with this beautiful family of Uncle Razali and Aunty Awa. Well, I called myself as a little Czech ambassador for Malaysians. Haha. Perasan. I knew Aunty Awa since early September I think, of course via blog and we keep in touch till now, insyAllah.

She was planning for her Europe trip and to my surprise Prav?ická brána was in her plan. :) So impressed to know that, I tried my best to help with guides. And another surprise, she invited me to join her family trip in Czech. T_T

Segan tu jangan katalah, dah kenapa nak masuk family trip orang lain kannn?. -_-'

I kept reminding myself, my intention was to make someone's journey in Czech smoother, well at least I believe in the saying of 'tetamu tu bawa rezeki'. Hehe. I've been living here for quite a while and even my study is covered by Malaysian taxes (although I'll have huge debt at the end of my study for at least ten to hundred thousands ringgit haha die die) so, I think of this as contribution to the people as well.

Prague Castle, Czech.

At first, deep inside I was homesick.

Can you imagine, you met a family similar like yours and even the sequence of children is the same as your own siblings? 2 elder brothers (Ariff, Azmi) and the youngest is a daughter (Aliya). Even the eldest studied culinary just like my late abanglong did. :)

Hard Rock Cafe, Prague.

I am thankful I met them, alhamdulillah.

Alhamdulillah, guiding them around was not a problem, I had experiences travelling with my parents for our Europe Trip last two years and those moments taught me a lot how to deal with parents aged 40's at least... well my parents were slightly above 50 when we traveled together. :)

Both of uncle and aunty are friendly and chill, they treat me like I am a part of the family. This reminds me of my parents as they love to treat other kids. Once upon a time when I was younger, I was jealous with those kids as well. :p HAHA.

Azmi (Adik), Uncle, Ariff, Aunty, Aliya, Me.

We were lucky to have the chance to climb this high as I've been told that the route was under renovation just a week earlier. Let me share with you the interesting facts of Pravcicka brana:
  • Pravcicka brana means Pravcice Sandstone Gate
  • It is the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe.
  • Chronicles of Narnia (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) was filmed here.
  • It was said that this area was a sea full of sea creatures and after million years, it transformed to what we can see today.

To Uncle & Aunty, thank you very much for those lovely days, it felt like home to me. :)

[Photos] Walking On Frozen Lake of Morskie Oko, Poland

March 14, 2017

I am currently in surgery rotation and going to have a final exam at the end of April. For surgery, my friends and I were distributed into few subgroups and unfortunately Malaysians are not in the same subgroup. Within 2 months, every group will be given a week off. Actually... 3 days off. And they are IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK! Hahaha.

I really cannot brain why they give every group holidays on Tuesday-Thursday. Mine was 28/2/2017 - 2/3/2017.

That was the reason why I was alone for this trip. -_-'

Yeay, a full portrait of myself with Morskie Oko frozen lake as the background, together with the mesmerizing mountains.

Morskie Oko was already in my travel bucket list for a while. But, actually the route that I would love to try is to start from Poprad, Slovakia then sleep over at one of the cottage in the middle of mountain, then continue to hike to Rysy peak, end the trail with Morskie Oko, Poland. The route may take up to few days to make it more enjoyable.

But, this type of hiking plan will only work well during summer, in which I always use this opportunity to go home. :)

High Tatras National Park.
This national park mainly covers the mountain area of Slovakia but since the mountain is basically the border between Slovakia and Poland, you can expect there are few areas on Poland included as well in the national park. And in Europe, you literally need no passport to show at the top of the mountain just to cross the border. But, of course if you are a foreigner and you don't have EU citizenship, I would really recommend you to take the passport with you.

Another border I know that happen to be in a national park is between Czech and Germany, it is Bohemian-Switzerland / Saxon-Switzerland National Park.

Miss this view!
From my reading, you can get most information in this website, emilysguidetokrakow.com, like I've mentioned in previous post about Morskie Oko. :)

Here are few basic instructions on how to get to Morskie Oko (refer the pictures' captions)

1. In Zakopane, get to this station. It is NOT the one you arrive in Zakopane from other cities. This specific station is for transports within Zakopane itself. Not that far, these two stations are next to each other, together with the train station.

2. Take a mini-bus / mini-van at the bus station. It will be at the very first platform and you can see the destination in front of it. The driver will charge you 10 zloty for one way. Pay only when you arrive at the parking area closer to Morskie Oko. Same goes to the return journey. Get onto the van and pay only when you arrive in Zakopane again.

See, platform number 1 to Morskie Oko.

Before we can continue to Morskie Oko, we need to pay the one-time entrance fee to the national park. That was my first time paying this kind of fee. It is about 5 zloty per person. If you are a student, a senior (about 60years old), a person with disability or a soldier in active service (hehe I don't understand why), you are entitled for 50% discount, so... it will be 2.50 zloty.

So, prepare your identity card if you want this benefit.

1 Polish zloty = RM 1.10

I felt pity to those horses. -_-' They look so tired with lots of bulging veins.

Then, we can choose to either walk-hike up the trails or simply use the horse carriage. I am not that sure the price but I have set my mind to choose the first option. :)

The trails were not that hard, I mean not that steep, alhamdulillah. Just, what made it harder that time was the roads were icy, slippery enough to make me walk just like a penguin! Haha.

Okayyyy, nothing much to say. Let's enjoy the view around Morskie Oko area. :D
I will share details as the captions yea.

We can see this board every 1km.

I was glad they road was cleared from snow. Otherwise, my feet would be wet from the very beginning.

Can you detect the waterfall?

This kind of view was I think after 1-2km of walking.

Standing against the sunshine to capture memories with this background... you cannot see my dark face. Haha.

Many people, you would not feel that lonely.

Again, you can expect this view almost through out the route.

Oh yea, other than using pavement roads that are more for cars, we can also use this trail between trees. Just, mind our steps, it is far more slippery! :p

Look at the ground. Dirty ice. Haha. That's the best spot to fall. Painful and wet.

I have no idea why I love to pose like this. Trademark maybe hehe.

A quiz for you guys, guess what is inside this picture?

Morskie Oko

After walking about 3 hours (maybe), finally I reached the lake. As expected, the lake was frozen. Here, I shared few facts about Morskie Oko that can be found on the board there.

  1. It is the largest lake in Tatras Mountains, about 1395 meters above sea level.
  2. Morskie Oko means 'Eye of the Sea', called by the tourists. It was said to be connected to a sea (like beneath the mountains), but... seems impossible.
  3. Other than Morskie Oko, there is another popular lake just below Rysy Peak named Czarny Staw. Staw = pond.

The frozen lake.

I should have wear a brighter tudung. :D

This is a lodge, where tourists can have meal while enjoying the view. And advantage for people coming during winter, we can warm ourselves in this lodge and toilets are provided with a fee of 2 zloty. Meals' prices are okay range 10-20zloty on average. I have prepared myself with food so no need to spend money here.

Get your souvenirs here if you want to :) Postcards cost around 1.50 zloty/piece.

See, so many people. This lodge was very busy that day. Oh yea, it provides free WiFi! Can you imagine you can get connected from a mountain for free? :D I tried video call with my dad, but the video was not that clear. But, I had no problem to send videos on Whatsapp / scroll FB or Twitter timeline hehe.

Going down to the starting point was faster as my feet were already wet and I need to perform my prayers. I planned to pray around the lake, but the wind was very strong I could not even open my eyes most of the time, what else to take wudu'. Cold and freezing enough.

Since Polish people are more religious (at least compared to Czech), it was not that awkward to pray in public. :) But, after reading few articles and international news, maybe I should be more careful as non-Muslim actually do not understand the movements in our prayers. Yes, we need to be 'izzah (proud) to perform salah but does not mean you need to expose yourself to danger. I've been told that some of them always feel threatened that we will do something horrible after that. Hmmmm.

Okay guys, for the next posts, I will try to take you around Zakopane. This small town is interesting as well! :D
